Joshua Passmore is a Teaching Assistant at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) South Africa, and a first-year PhD candidate at the University of the Western Cape (UWC), supervised by Prof. David Holgate, in the fields of pointfree topology and category theory. In 2025 he graduated summa cum laude from UWC with a MSc (research) in Mathematics, with his research focusing on looking at multiple introductory aspects of pointfree topology from the perspective of frames and locales. He enjoys teaching and tutoring mathematics at university level, and obtains great joy from engaging with others on an academic level.
