Onintsoa Rakotondranisa

Onintsoa Rakotondranisa is a PhD student at the University of Cape Town, conducting research at the intersection of cosmology and machine learning.

She holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Astrophysics and Astronomy from the University of Antananarivo, Madagascar, and a MSc in Mathematical Sciences specializing in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Science from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) South Africa affiliated with Stellenbosch University.

During her studies at AIMS South Africa, she was awarded a fully funded Google DeepMind Scholarship. Her research project for this program was selected among the poster prize winners at the Deep Learning Indaba 2025. Her research focuses primarily on applying machine learning techniques to cosmological parameter estimation, as well as developing deep learning models to improve search pipelines for astrophysical transient events.
