Hosting Workshops

Practical information for organisers planning workshops, mini-courses, and conferences to be held at AIMS South Africa

The AIMS South Africa Research Centre regularly hosts workshops and conferences in the mathematical sciences, with a particular focus on areas aligned with our research priorities.

Workshops typically bring together leading researchers, early-career scientists, and students to collaborate, exchange ideas, and advance research in key areas.

Workshops are usually scheduled during periods when the AIMS academic programme is less busy or not in session, ensuring that participants can fully engage in the event. Most workshops are hosted for 5 days.

Workshops are primarily hosted in the AIMS South Africa main lecture hall, which accommodates up to 50 participants. We also have smaller meeting rooms for breakout sessions or smaller workshops, a computer laboratory with space for up to 50 participants and office space available for speakers and workshop organisers.

Meals are provided in the AIMS canteen, and accommodation may be available on site depending on the time of year. When on-site accommodation is limited, suitable options are available at nearby establishments.

Workshop organisers work closely with the AIMS South Africa administrative team to plan, prepare, and coordinate all logistical aspects of the event.
