AIMS South Africa welcomes Biomathematics Honours Students
In addition to our Master’s programmes in Mathematical Sciences and AI for Science, AIMS South Africa, in collaboration with Stellenbosch University (SU), offers a BSc Honours programme in Biomathematics.
This year, we are pleased to welcome five SU students to our campus: Bonolo Tshabalala, Shannon Bartlett, Morgan Du Plessis, Ashton Robinson, and Tayla Botha (pictured left to right). The students have settled into the Mathematics Hotel and are fully integrated into academic life at AIMS.
They have already joined MSc students in a range of courses delivered by internationally renowned lecturers, including Fluid Dynamics (Prof. Richard Katz, University of Oxford), Introduction to Modelling, Numerics, and Optimisation for Differential Equations (Prof Michael Winkler, Heidelberg University), and Formal Methods for Software Development (Prof Jaco Geldenhuys). Looking ahead, the programme will continue with courses such as Algebraic Biology and Analytic Techniques in Mathematical Biology, as well as a week-long conference on Meaningful Modelling of Epidemiological Data.
In the second semester, the Biomathematics Honours students will return to Stellenbosch University to undertake their research projects under the supervision of SU faculty.
